ICO launches call for views on international data transfers guidance

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has launched a six-week call for views on its guidance for international data transfers under the UK GDPR.

International data transfers underpin around 40 per cent of UK exports and 20 per cent of imports, enabling businesses to “access new markets, collaborate with global partners, and drive innovation”.

The ICO is seeking input from organisations who transfer data internationally, as well as legal and compliance professionals and data protection officers, to help ensure its guidance on international transfers is clear, practical, and accessible.

The call for views is open until 7 August 2025.
