blink-182 sees resurgence in recent years
Though blink-182’s pop-punk sound is synonymous with the 1990s and 2000s, the band has been seeing a resurgence in recent years.
The group was announced as a surprise addition to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival weekend one lineup in 2023, which marked the first time in nine years that the trio hit the stage together. The performance drew a massive crowd to the Sahara tent, and the following weekend, when headliner Frank Ocean dropped out, the band filled in as a replacement.
After their Coachella performance, the three musicians went on their worldwide reunion tour.
The band last took the stage earlier this year for a sold-out benefit concert at the Hollywood Palladium in support of LA fire relief efforts. Alkaline Trio opened the show, and blink-182 followed with a 20-plus song set, including a tribute to first responders during “Stay Together for the Kids” and a surprise appearance by Matt Skiba (who filled in for DeLonge when he “indefinitely” left the group in 2015) for “Bored to Death.”
